Planning Meeting for the Second Year of Conserving the Greater Virunga Project

From the 17th to the 18th August, GVTC organized a two-day meeting at Juru Park, in Kikondo to review the first year performance of Conserving the Greater Virunga (CGV) Project, make staff members understand the second year annual operation plan, and develop quarterly plans for two quarters (August-September and October-December 2016). The performances under evaluation are based on achieved activities, Monitoring & Evaluation framework, as well as on the project budget expenditures.

This technical meeting aims at helping GVTC management to identify targets to be achieved during the above quarters as well as develop quarterly plans from the Annual Operation Plan for CGV implementation within the three countries (DRC, Rwanda & Uganda). CGV is a transboundary three-year project funded by The Ministry of Foreign Trade & Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, through the Netherlands Embassy in Kigali (Rwanda).

In her welcome remarks, Mrs. Grace Kyomuhendo, the GVTC Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of Finance & Administration, thanked Mr. James Byamukama and Ismaël Ochen, respectively Program Manager and the Monitor & Evaluation Officer of GVTC, for having come up with the idea of this important meeting and its preparations. Mrs. Kyomuhendo pointed out that the meeting was well targeted to GVTC and called upon everyone to pay attention and to try, as much as possible, to contribute so that GVTC staff members would make a profit of the meeting and then understand what is ahead in the coming second years of the “Conserving the Greater Virunga Project” which they already had much moved half month.

Secondly, the Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of Finance & Administration urgent participants to be able to go through and achieve the objectives of the meeting as mentioned by the Program Manager, and search a way to achieve GVTC targets, because it is one thing finding the money, and another thing achieving the project objectives. She recalled the need to refocus and see how to move forward, as an Institution, to implement activities related to the above mentioned project within the Greater Virunga Landscape.
