On the 22nd May 2019- Fatima Hotel in Musanze (Rwanda) started a two-day meeting of the Tripartite Round Table Dialogue between the Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration (GVTC) of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda and Uganda.
The main theme of this tripartite round table meeting is “ Wildlife Conservation and Development in the Greater Virunga Landscape”.
At this transboundary meeting, welcoming remarks were made by Mr. Gatabazi Jean-Marie Vianney, the Governor of the North Province of Rwanda; Hon. Feller Lutaichirwa, the Deputy-Governor of the North Kivu Province of DRC; Hon. Philemon Mateke, the Minister of Foreign Affairs & Regional Cooperation of Uganda; Dr. Georges Muamba Tshibasu, the GVTC Executive Secretary; and Hon. Vincent Munyeshyaka, the Minister of Commerce and Industries of Rwanda and the Guest of Honor for this tripartite round table meeting who presented the opening remarks.
More than 50 participants attending this meeting are delegates from the three GVTC partner states in charge of local and national administration leaders, diplomatic missions, security agents, conservation agencies, observers, international conservation organizations, etc.
The tripartite round table meeting falls under the Peace, Security and Cooperation framework for the region and contributes to stability in Greater Virunga Landscape shared by DRC, Rwanda and Uganda where there is need to promote conservation and link it to socioeconomic development.
